Please sponsor us for the Great South Run. We’re running 10 miles for Cancer Research!

1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime… Cancer is something that affects millions of people across the UK. In some cases it can be stopped, but there are still many people dying from this cruel disease.

In 2005 my Granddad lost his long battle with prostate cancer and then 5 years later my mum Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer. If you’ve not experienced this then you’re lucky, but it’s not to say you won’t experience it at some point in your life. That feeling of being told your mum has cancer is an emotion that no words could ever truly describe, but just imagine that you’re sitting in front of the doctor and being told that you have cancer, how would you feel? Now though after 5 years of treatment mum is clear of all cancer!

This undoubtedly is a great reason to do this run – to celebrate mum’s fantastic victory over cancer, to remember my granddad for his courageous fight against cancer and to raise money to save many other mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunties and children! Please donate by clicking on our JustGiving page link > https://www.justgiving.com/Helen-Blake2015/

The Great South Run in 13 days… Disaster strikes!

I’ve been training for this 10 mile run for some time now and it’s just 13 days away. Typically though I have hurt my foot after deciding to run 10 miles on Friday evening. I’m struggling to walk and putting any sort of weight on the foot is pretty painful.

No matter what though I will still be running, walking or crawling those 10 miles. If my foot doesn’t heal in time then it won’t stop me.

If you’re not aware, I am running (or hobbling) The Great South Run in just under two weeks in aid of Cancer Research. This is a great charity, extremely close to my heart. We all know someone who has been affected so please don’t stop reading!

I ask you to kindly donate as much as you can, all donations would be hugely appreciated!

3 weeks today I’m running 10 miles for Cancer Research

Hi all, this isn’t author or writing related but I feel that it is extremely important to everyone and anyone reading this right now.

Three weeks today me, my girlfriend April & my mum Helen will be running the Great South Run in Portsmouth, which is 10 miles long.
Cancer is something that affects millions of people across the globe and although it can be stopped in some cases, there are still many people dying to the hands of cancer. The last few years have been tough on the Blake/Phillips family. In 2005 my Granddad lost his long battle with prostate cancer. This hit the family hard and to this day we all miss him dearly. Then 5 years later my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily mum could be helped. After 5 years of treatment she is now finally clear of all cancer which I’m sure you’ll agree is absolutely amazing!
This undoubtedly is a great reason to do this run, to celebrate my mum’s fantastic victory over cancer, to remember my granddad for his courage to fight cancer for so long and to raise money to save many other mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunties and children across the world.
