1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime… Cancer is something that affects millions of people across the UK. In some cases it can be stopped, but there are still many people dying from this cruel disease.
In 2005 my Granddad lost his long battle with prostate cancer and then 5 years later my mum Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer. If you’ve not experienced this then you’re lucky, but it’s not to say you won’t experience it at some point in your life. That feeling of being told your mum has cancer is an emotion that no words could ever truly describe, but just imagine that you’re sitting in front of the doctor and being told that you have cancer, how would you feel? Now though after 5 years of treatment mum is clear of all cancer!
This undoubtedly is a great reason to do this run – to celebrate mum’s fantastic victory over cancer, to remember my granddad for his courageous fight against cancer and to raise money to save many other mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunties and children! Please donate by clicking on our JustGiving page link > https://www.justgiving.com/Helen-Blake2015/
