More Positive Comments – The Author

It’s great to receive positive feedback from that random person wherever they may be in this world. It’s a great feeling to know they read a book that you wrote. That they have entered that world you created. They followed those characters you formed, and most importantly embraced your work and enjoyed it.

My novel ‘The Author’ is currently available for free download from http://www.free-ebooks.net/ebook/The-Author – The site allows users to rate the eBook out of 5 stars and to write a comment. I have gone back to see what people are rating and saying. It is rated 4 out of 5 and I saw three very positive comments. Thank you to whoever you are! 😀

RIP Robin Williams

So sad to hear the news of Robin Williams.

It is difficult to compensate that a man of his calibre had been fighting depression. I can easily say that no one has made me laugh as much as I have as a child, teen and an adult. Forever a legend!

RIP Robin Williams.

Potential NEW eBook Coming Soon!

Today I have spent a lot of my day writing.

As you may know I finished my first draft of Endurance: Apocalypse a couple of weeks ago. I am now at the stage in which I need to go through it and edit it. This stage is very difficult but it is the stage which makes your book what it is. It can be very tedious and long for authors but it is something we must do as the author.

I am slowly working through it to make it what I want it to be and sound to my readers. However, I have been bugged by all of my other book ideas, which are constantly filling my mind. I sometimes feel my mind is working to quick for me to compensate all these ideas, and so I felt it was time to set Endurance 2 aside for today and to concentrate on another book idea of mine. I am hoping that this would unclog my mind ever so slightly so that I can concentrate solely on these two books.

This book idea is dark, and of a supernatural genre; with an interesting twist.
I cannot give too much away but I can tell you that I plan for it to be original. I have not decided on a name yet but I have written a fair chunk of the book.

This book will be available on eBook only and not paperback because I want to release this as a short story. I’m hoping this will be a short story that you can still relate and bond with the characters as well as the novel capturing your imagination and will make you think about ghostly spirits differently.

I will keep you updated on this title but this is the very early stages of this project.

My ‘Poem Attempts’ Farewell

So of course yesterday, my Poem Attempt 4 signalled the ending to my blog’s ‘Poem Attempts’.

If you missed it you’re probably thinking ‘What the hell are you on about?’

Well basically if you do not know, I am a writer of the genre Psychological Horror, Mystery, Thriller and Sci Fi I have written two books Endurance and The Author.

I have never been a fan of poetry nor have I ever written it. But for my university course, I had to write poetry. Of course, I was very worried about it. I remember fearing that this one module would finish me off and make me lose my degree. But I actually enjoyed writing poetry.

I decided to share my poems on this blog for you to read. I decided to do a ‘Poem Attempts Weekend’ event on my blog over four days. I uploaded a poem once a day.

If you missed this then you can catch up with it all by scrolling through my blog or you can just click here to see all my poems on one page.

If you want to see the posts separately with my thought process/commentary,  then please click on each of the poem attempts below to see each blog post.

Poem Attempt 1: Invisible Friend

Poem Attempt 2: My Family

Poem Attempt 3: 4 5683 968

Poem Attempt 4: Emotion + Experience – A Path Of Life

Thank you for reading!

My Poetry Attempts – Coming Soon!

For one of my Creative Writing modules at University last semester I had to write four poems. Obviously when I read that I needed to write poems for a small segment of my degree I did feel a bit like ‘Oh shit!’ because I have never been good at writing poetry!

But to be honest it wasn’t too bad. My aim was to try and write poems in a different way, to a similar way to what I would write if I was writing a novel.
I did this for a couple of poems but others I had to stick to a template supplied by the University.

I will upload two over the weekend for you guys to read. Please let me know what you think of them.

Mobile Phone VS Book!!

Recently, I came back from a weeks holiday in Santorini (Greece). This is my story and plea to never let books die out.

Whilst on holiday, I had a little accident. On the FIRST day, that’s right the first bloody day, I decided to have a dip in the swimming pool. As I stepped into the chilling chlorinated waters, I realised that my pocket was rather bulky. I felt my pocket and thought ‘there’s something hard in this pocket.’ Now I know what you’re thinking (dirty minded people) Let me make this clear… there were a lot of older women with EVERYTHING on show whilst they tanned so it isn’t… let’s say a part of my body. But as I forced my hand into my pocket, I yanked out my phone, covered in water.

‘Great, my life is ruined.’ I thought as I sulked back to my sun bed. I even went to the trouble of placing my phone in some Uncle Ben’s Rice to soak up the water. It didn’t work so it meant that I would have to cope an entire week without my phone.

Admittedly, it was fine, I did not miss my phone. Instead, I spent all my holiday reading.
I read a few books. I read Eeny Meeny by M. J. Arlidge (Average) , A Tap on The Window by Linwood Barclay (A very good book) and most of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (Boring at first, better in the second half.).
As I read, I realised that I actually missed reading. With University, Writing and part time work, I never really get to sit down and just read whatever I want to and this holiday gave me that opportunity.
I honestly felt happier reading than if I was on my phone crushing candy, sending selfies or Tweeting about my day to people who simply don’t really care.

So lets all hail books because they’re amazing. Never let them become extinct. Peace.

The End of the World Cup!

Last night was the last match of the World Cup.

We all watched the finalists Germany and Argentina battle it out to win the biggest competition in the world!
The game was close, going beyond the standard ninety minutes, and into extra time, where the winning goal came just seven minutes from Penalties. Mario Gotze scored a great goal to seal the game for Germany.

Although the game was even, Germany deserved the win having been the strongest team in the competition. Their highlight of the competition of course will be beating the hosts 7-1 (which instantly made them favourites).

Overall the game was close, both teams cancelled each other out making it difficult to create too many chances, but when Germany got their biggest chance through Gotze, he made no mistake and put it into the back of the net in style.

So the Germans are the World Champions of football and that signals the end of the World Cup for another four years!

My Article About Self-Published Authors

Please feel free to have a read of my article which I wrote and published onto Blirt.

” Should Self-Published authors be frowned upon?
This is my view on self-publishing – coming from a self-published author of Endurance and The Author.

WC2014: So close yet so far

Thursday night England were beaten by Uruguay in the World Cup group stage, dashing everyones hopes of qualifying for the next round. We needed two Italy wins to have a chance but Costa Rica knocked us out with a 1-0 win over the Italians.
Hodgson played an England side that were tamed by Italy 2-1 in the first game. This team was then easily dismantled by Suarez, scoring two goals in the game. A wasteful Rooney missed big chances and apart from that there weren’t many chances for England.

Whispers are that the England team to face Costa Rica is a different side, which I believe we needed in the Uruguay match so we will see how they do.

But the point of this blog post is actually for my bet I placed last night. Algeria and USA to win. There were great odds, so I put just £1 on them both to win, with a return of around £80. Of course I was annoyed with the later match… Algeria won 4-2 but USA came so close to upsetting Portugal… in fact they were winning 2-1 before the Portuguese equalised in the 95th minute – Typical, I lost my bet.

Enjoying the 2014 World Cup? My England Team Line-up would be…

The World Cup has begun and football has been played everyday, 3 times a day for nearly a week, and it’s been a great.

Surprise surprise England lost their first game, and a huge shock (no sarcasm here) Spain lost. In fact they got absolutely torn apart by a fantastic Dutch side – Thanks to Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie, Spain did not know what to do to prevent them from scoring. Admittedly it could have been a lot worse for Spain, 5 goals conceded was the least they got away with.

Brazil have surprisingly been pretty dull as well as Argentina (even after that Messi screamer). But my favourites Germany looked strong in their first match against Ronaldo, I mean Portugal…

Focusing my attention to England, I believe that Hodgson is failing to use his biggest talents. This England team actually does have a lot of potential, they actually looked decent against Italy but I just feel that Hodgson is too scared of shunning the likes of Rooney out of the team.
I think the England defence is weak and to be honest I’m not sure how I would improve it, although I wouldn’t have called Luke Shaw up to the team and instead called up Kieran Gibbs, I think the other choices were probably justified. The midfield is decent, although my starting line up would consist of starting either Gerrard or Henderson, and partnering the starter with either Wilshere, Lallana or Barkley with Sterling and Ox on the wings supporting front man Sturridge. That’s my opinion anyway…

So if you’re watching the World Cup then feel free to express your opinion on this post and tell me your starting England line up if you were Hodgson.
