I regularly update my Twitter page whilst writing DECEPTION – I like to post ambiguous tweets about certain parts of the book.

Have funny clips on social media replaced telling jokes?
This is a very random post of mine, but the other day it occurred to me that I hadn’t heard a joke for a long time.
Now of course in the last few years the surge of technology especially mobile phones has been huge and admittedly fantastic. With phones comes social media and with social media comes funny images and videos.
For me I feel that these have replaced telling jokes. I’ve done it myself, I used to love telling jokes but I haven’t for a long time, I instead say ‘Oh I saw this hilarious video the other day.’ and whip it my phone, go onto Facebook or Twitter and the video; I’ve noticed others do this also.
Not that there’s anything wrong with this, admittedly there is some funny stuff daily on the internet, but don’t you miss those sometimes cheesy, witty and hilarious jokes that stay with you and make you chuckle to yourself throughout the day?
Thinking about it, the videos and images do that too!
It’s just a thought of mine. Let me know what you think.

As you all know, I completed writing The Author and now it is undergoing the editing and proof reading stage.
I thought it was about time to let you all know what it is about. So now I can FINALLY tell you! So here you are, here is The Author blurb below,

I’m threatened by the lack of control I have over them.
There’s one room where I feel it most, and as I stare at the door leading down into the basement, it begins to creak open.

Branded as a ‘Fresh new Dystopian idea’, and concluding with ‘All in all a decent read. Blake has a lot of potential and should continue to write to improve his skills.’

My response to a question constantly asked
Since I have decided to self-publish my first book Endurance, people have instantly asked ‘how much are you making?’ or ‘How much money do you get from selling the book?’
Well I want to just say to the people who have asked those type of questions, I do not care how much money I’m making.
Writing is a hobby, I just love it! Writing to entertain is my dream job. I love the power and freedom it gives you. It can be hard work, but if it does it’s job and entertains my audience then job done, it makes me happy and the audience.
The reason I decided to self-publish Endurance was to get my name out there and to entertain people reading my book. My dream is to write for a living. I would love to be an author full time or/and write for TV and Film. Writing for entertainment is just incredible, whether it is writing a book or TV programme or Film. As the author/writer you create your own world, your characters, your setting, the lives of the characters, literally everything… It is as if you’re god!
The feeling of writing in your own created world is a great feeling, I get it every time I write, even if you’re not an author yourself you still get the same feeling when reading.
That feeling when you are reading your book and the surroundings around you evaporate and you enter the book. You are the character, you imagine other characters and you imagine the surroundings. That feeling is similar if not the same as when I and I’m sure others write.
Anyway, just thought I would explain my reasoning and my motives for writing. I am enjoying myself promoting Endurance and I am currently writing my next book ‘The Author’ which will be out nearer to the end of this year.
And I would just like to finish by saying to YOU out there, not just to the many aspiring authors and writers like me, but to everyone and anyone who has a dream of any kind, don’t let anyone try to change or ruin your dream. You fight for it. Go out there, be noticed, be singled out. You are responsible for making your dream happen. It’s easier to let your dream disappear than for it to actually happen. Prove the doubters wrong, it will make you stronger and hungrier for what you want to achieve. That is what has spurred me on even more, the doubters out there. Make everyone who truly cares about you proud and prove those negative, worthless, bitter people wrong.

Does English exist any more?
How frustrating is it that people these days cannot speak? especially on Facebook… Every time I log onto Facebook or Twitter, I see a status, comment or tweet that is poorly written.
TEXTS! Oh yes, lets not forget texts. I expect you all know someone who writes a text that is ‘quicker’ for them to type, but longer for you to translate and transcribe… Yes they use ‘b4’ and spell words carelessly to ‘save them time’ but in truth, they probably don’t know how to spell the actual word. Admittedly, I used to do all the abbreviations and ridiculous spelling of words… when I was about 10!
Now, back to Facebook. I have noticed that people cannot speak, mostly through my experience of the internet for the last, I don’t know, ten years+ . Recently, it has irritated me more than ever.
I liked an Arsenal fan page, well actually a few of them, and there are two that stand out to me. They are both constantly filled with news, that is written poorly (and lies might I add). I mean, it’s so bad that people comment on the posts, insulting the page about their written English. Admittedly, (no racism intended) I think that the people who run these fan pages, are foreign because the syntax and sentence structure is always pretty wild.
To be honest, I suppose it is expected within football. It’s a worldwide sport, everyone is allowed their opinion including foreign Arsenal fans. I’m just more irritated by people who don’t write texts ‘properly’ or write statuses that make them sound incapable of speaking or show that they could feature on The Jeremy Kyle Show and fit right in. Just watch the Jeremy Kyle show if you haven’t already. It’s a perfect piece of evidence to use with this mini rant of mine.
I should really be a descriptivist about all this right now, that’s what we’re encouraged to do in English essays… Luckily this isn’t an essay.
There is much more to speak about here, but, I simply do not have the time to do so. I am a full time university student, and May is the month of essays and exams for us students and I’m writing my book.
Before any smart ass proofreads my post here and points out any errors, just stop, they would be minor errors and this is a informal post about language. And yes, you may be thinking ‘well Facebook is informal too so you’re contradicting yourself.’ No I am not, least I am making some sense with my language and all the words are spelt correctly and there is some form of punctuation.
That’s all for now. Rant over.
Want to work in TV or Film!!
Everyone has their dream job and my one is to write TV programmes or Films!!
The prospect of writing a TV programme or film is really amazing. I want to do it so badly. To be able to work with a team, bouncing ideas off one another, creating a brilliant plot, characters and twists is a dream job!
The feeling of creating a story is a great feeling, letting your imagination takeover you creates the best of stories. I do that when I’m writing. Whether it’s a piece of work at Uni or Endurance or my next novel.
I am constantly writing and thinking, so for a chance to do it for a living, would be fantastic to develop the idea from my head, onto paper, onto the screen is what I want to do!
Very random post, just wanted to put my feelings out there 🙂
