New Detective Thriller series in the works

I am working on a new detective thriller series!

I am very excited about it. I have worked up some cases to feature in the books and I have got an idea of the type of private detective (main protagonist).
The number of books I plan to write I’m not completely sure, but it will be a reasonable large series.
I am also considering writing out all the books at once and releasing them in quick succession; which is a lot of work. It certainly won’t be available this year or possibly the next but I am sure it will happen.

There is a lot of work to do but I do have many ideas that I’m working with but it is certainly in the planning stage.

The Metaphorical Truth? by T. J. Blake – Flash! Competition

Flash! Friday is 1 years old, congrats! Which means it’s competition time for all, all week!

I thought I’d take part AGAIN! We had to write a piece from the image given, and it had to be no more or fewer then 350 words. Pretty tough… But below is what I wrote. It’s an ambiguous piece with lots of imagination, leaving it up to you (the reader) to decide what’s real and what isn’t.

This is the picture supplied below…

So from that picture, this is THE METAPHORICAL TRUTH? by T. J. Blake (350 words)

I lean over-board, seeing my reflection down in the ripples the dragon creates.
I look ahead to see a hexagon piece of blue sky, and the sun beginning to be smothered by the clouds.
The irregular sizes of land around us scattered unevenly, as we bobble in the centre of the lake.

I stand behind the dragon feeling its layered, semi-circular scales on the top of its head under my flat palm.
“It isn’t real you know?” I hear Dad say behind me, containing his laughter within his chest and throat.
“He is.” I sigh.

I continue to stroke him, looking at the land nearest to us on my left. I watch a teenage boy and girl holding each other, gazing into each other’s eyes. She wears a white and blue hatchet dress; he wears his knight’s uniform.
He steps away from her on the high land, her eyes widen. Her light pink lips open as she takes a step back. He kneels down, his mouth moves like a prayer.
She smiles, runs up to him and he lifts her up as they kiss.

The dragon continues to glide along the water, moving closer to the clusters of land. I see the tops in destruction. The edges crumbling, the grass burnt, people fighting with swords and bows and arrows. A king is hiding behind his knights, until they are tossed aside, some in the water and others hit the rocks. The king begs I hear his screams echo towards me, until an arrow pierces through him, hitting the dragons left side of his neck.

I see a body in the water, a young knight and a blue and white hatchet dress floating on the water.
I blink, the arrow disappears.
I look across the water to the knight to see tangled seaweed floating over the ripples. I look away from it and instead look ahead at the route the dragon will take. I stroke the dragon’s head and move my hand down to the left of it, feeling the hole of the arrow.
I look behind to dad, he’s gone.

So, what did you think? Feel free to let me know. Check out Flash! Friday’s site and have a go yourself.

New writing and new book ideas

I have officially started writing the next instalment of Endurance, ‘Endurance: Apocalypse’ (Endurance 2). For those of you who have read Endurance, it will be as gory, as action packed and I hope as unpredictable! I’m writing it when I can, hoping for it to be completed early(ish) 2014!

I also have a new mystery thriller book idea which I am developing at the moment. I could possibly begin writing it at the beginning of next year.
I do however have two other book ideas as well as the mystery thriller idea to pick from so we shall see what I decide to write. Who knows I may need to ask the opinion of you to help me decide.

So, very exciting prospects for the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, with my next book ‘The Author’ coming out hopefully within the next few weeks and possibly ‘Endurance: Apocalypse’ out at the beginning of next year, and then more writing with my 3 other book ideas for the rest of 2014 and maybe 2015!

So my second novel is coming along very nicely. I have nearly written the book after that it will then be edited and proof read.

But right now the front cover has been completed and now I will have to work on the book cover myself and when that’s done then I will put it out there for all of you to read.

Back to University today!

Today is the day I had to return to University after a good few months of relaxing and writing my next novel The Author.

I will be doing Poetry and Prose with some dramatic writing for the stage and radio in my Creative Writing course, and Sociolinguistics in my English Language part of the course… So maybe I will stop writing novels and become a poet? I certainly do not plan to, my poetry is probably as appealing as watching paint dry and as creative and poetic as the language that people on the Jeremy Kyle show utter… but we’ll see.

I may even post some of my poetry on here, to see what you think.

Been writing for hours!

Today I have been working on my next novel ‘The Author’ (COMING SOON!)

I have spent 7 hours on it today and I have only written 10 5×8 pages, (That is the size of an average novel) which isn’t really a lot but I am getting to the critical and difficult stage of the novel. It is spicing up and becoming very dark, gory and twisted now! Very exciting, can’t wait to finish it and get my second novel out there for hopefully all of you to enjoy 🙂

Just a reminder don’t forget about my debut novel Endurance which is available on Amazon for paperback and Kindle.

A note to reviewers, I am still looking for reviewers to read and review Endurance so if you are interested then please let me know. Thanks!

My response to a question constantly asked

Since I have decided to self-publish my first book Endurance, people have instantly asked ‘how much are you making?’ or ‘How much money do you get from selling the book?’
Well I want to just say to the people who have asked those type of questions, I do not care how much money I’m making.

Writing is a hobby, I just love it! Writing to entertain is my dream job. I love the power and freedom it gives you. It can be hard work, but if it does it’s job and entertains my audience then job done, it makes me happy and the audience.

The reason I decided to self-publish Endurance was to get my name out there and to entertain people reading my book. My dream is to write for a living. I would love to be an author full time or/and write for TV and Film. Writing for entertainment is just incredible, whether it is writing a book or TV programme or Film. As the author/writer you create your own world, your characters, your setting, the lives of the characters, literally everything… It is as if you’re god!
The feeling of writing in your own created world is a great feeling, I get it every time I write, even if you’re not an author yourself you still get the same feeling when reading.
That feeling when you are reading your book and the surroundings around you evaporate and you enter the book. You are the character, you imagine other characters and you imagine the surroundings. That feeling is similar if not the same as when I and I’m sure others write.

Anyway, just thought I would explain my reasoning and my motives for writing. I am enjoying myself promoting Endurance and I am currently writing my next book ‘The Author’ which will be out nearer to the end of this year.

And I would just like to finish by saying to YOU out there, not just to the many aspiring authors and writers like me, but to everyone and anyone who has a dream of any kind, don’t let anyone try to change or ruin your dream. You fight for it. Go out there, be noticed, be singled out. You are responsible for making your dream happen. It’s easier to let your dream disappear than for it to actually happen. Prove the doubters wrong, it will make you stronger and hungrier for what you want to achieve. That is what has spurred me on even more, the doubters out there. Make everyone who truly cares about you proud and prove those negative, worthless, bitter people wrong.

Last thing (I promise) don’t forget, Endurance is FREE on Amazon for Kindle download. That ends today though so go get your copy now!

Happy reading 🙂
