Flash! Friday Fiction debut post

I decided to take part in Flash! Friday Fiction for the first time yesterday!

What Flash Friday does, is weekly upload a photo for users to write a 150 word creative piece.
I thought it would be fun so I gave it a go. Admittedly, my piece may not be that great, but what can you do with 150 words which is a first draft and written in a small time scale? Not too much, but I gave it a go, some people had some great ideas and produced good writing.

Below is my piece on the Flash Friday Fiction blog…

THE PATH by T. J. Blake (151 words)
“Gravel crunches under my feet. The gentle breeze smothers my surroundings; making the leaves above me chafe, the barbed wire fence scrape against the wood, and press my orange robe against my body.
I amble whilst staring at the wicker huts and small mountains ahead of me. Birds glide above me in the dark grey overcast. Slithers of glowing light occasionally bursts through the clouds lighting the dim skies. A deep roar sounds in the distance and echoes towards me, chattering the specs of dusted gravel by my feet.

My eyes glance back to the path, lapse of concentration will kill me.
A man in a black robe stands not far from me, his head hidden in the darkness of his hood.
I slip my arm into my orange robe and feel the handle of my sword.
As I approach him, he opens his robe revealing the glint of his blade.”

Feel free to let me know what you think of my piece.
I will definitely have a go at Flash! Friday fiction again when I can and maybe you should too?
It is on a wordpress blog, just google flash Friday fiction.

Should Self-Published authors be frowned upon? Article by me on Blirt

The Author blurb and The Author Facebook page updated

As you all know, I completed writing The Author and now it is undergoing the editing and proof reading stage.

I thought it was about time to let you all know what it is about. So now I can FINALLY tell you! So here you are, here is The Author blurb below,

Four years after his wife and children disappeared, Ryan Milligan decided it’s time to let go of the past and move to a new home on Mulberry Lane . Ryan hoped his new house and peaceful neighbourhood would help him to cope better with the pain of losing his family and to continue his search. Whilst settling in and writing his new novel, Killing for your love, he realises things aren’t what they seem…

My new house is only a mile away from the home I used to live in with Tan and the kids, but now I feel like I’m in a different world. I can’t help but feel like I’ve been here before and done this before. There’s a presence here, I can feel it.  There are things happening in this house that aren’t normal. I’m threatened by the lack of control I have over them.
There’s one room where I feel it most, and as I stare at the door leading down into the basement, it begins to creak open.

What do you think? Do you like it?
The Author will be available really soon. Definitely by the end of this year but hopefully November 2013.

News about The Author…

Yesterday I sat at home most of the day staring into the light. It blinded me, it began to seep into my brain overtaking my body, forcing me to do things that I didn’t want to do… Well actually I was just staring at the monitor writing The Author but which version of events do you prefer?

My point is here, I was writing most the day and I completed writing The Author! I have written it which was a great feeling, I did it much quicker than I thought I would. Writing around University and my part time job is pretty hard most of the time I had a choice of which of the three to sacrifice but I have finally done. I am now in the editing process and I can say that I aim for it to be completed in November!

But right now the front cover has been completed and now I will have to work on the book cover myself and when that’s done then I will put it out there for all of you to read.

Back to University today!

Today is the day I had to return to University after a good few months of relaxing and writing my next novel The Author.

I will be doing Poetry and Prose with some dramatic writing for the stage and radio in my Creative Writing course, and Sociolinguistics in my English Language part of the course… So maybe I will stop writing novels and become a poet? I certainly do not plan to, my poetry is probably as appealing as watching paint dry and as creative and poetic as the language that people on the Jeremy Kyle show utter… but we’ll see.

I may even post some of my poetry on here, to see what you think.

Been writing for hours!

Today I have been working on my next novel ‘The Author’ (COMING SOON!)

I have spent 7 hours on it today and I have only written 10 5×8 pages, (That is the size of an average novel) which isn’t really a lot but I am getting to the critical and difficult stage of the novel. It is spicing up and becoming very dark, gory and twisted now! Very exciting, can’t wait to finish it and get my second novel out there for hopefully all of you to enjoy 🙂

Just a reminder don’t forget about my debut novel Endurance which is available on Amazon for paperback and Kindle.

A note to reviewers, I am still looking for reviewers to read and review Endurance so if you are interested then please let me know. Thanks!
